It was our second day today, on which we all found a domain name and pictures as well as created our first blog entry. It was not until this day that I knew what a blog was. Many friends have aided me on my site design and I have aided them as well. Tomorrow should be interesting as well, something else to learn. Baby Sloths is starting to become a very prosperous website and I can't imagine how well it may turn out in about nine weeks.

Undo shorcut = ctrl+z, Zoom in=ctrl++ Copy a Layer = ctrl+j, standard resolution = 200 pixels (some of the things we learned today). We have started learning more about photoshop today as well as what to blog about. We are learning more about brushes, filters, and layer styles and we should be learning even more coming soon. Today we also learned how to make a custom brush by creating a new selected layer of an existing image, clean it up with the magic eraser, and save it as a custom brush using the rectangular marquis tool and defining brush preset after changing the visibility of all other existing layers.
August 19, 2013
Today we worked in photoshop, modeling artwork of Frank Stella and learning about the eye dropper tool. To create the Stella picture, we added a grid for organization in the view section, selected square layers and colored them on top of each other by adjusting the background color and using the ctrl+Backspace shortcut.
August 20, 2013
Today we worked on our Frank Stella interpretations. This was done by recoloring background made with the rectangular marquis tool.
August 21, 2013
Today we finished our Kandinsky pieces using selection tools and background color changes. We did this through election through the rectangular and circular marquis tool and background recoloring through ctrl + backspace.
August 22, 2013
Today we worked on text manipulation, creating a shiny, metallic text. We started by typing our names in Magneto font and then began filtering it. We did this by adjusting layer styles of the text in the order of Inner Glow, Bevel and Emboss, Gradient Overlay, and Stroke. Tomorrow we should be working some more on these pieces through layer styles, shadows, and blurring effects.
August 23, 2013
Today we worked on our Bling Text projects, in which we used gradient overlays, inner glows, bevels, and brushes to create the images.
August 26, 2013
Today we worked on "cold effects." The steps to making these images we first to find a background and upload it. Then to create text in the center of the upper half of the background. Then to flip the image ninety degrees clockwise and use the wind filter(to the right). Then we turned the image back to its original position. then we press [ctrl + j] to make another layer copy. After taking that copy and vertically flipping it, we use the transform tool to make a trapezoidal shape. After this, we take the eraser tool at half text size and 10% capacity to it.
August 28, 2013
Today we worked on fire text and learned effects like color balances and blurring. We made the fire text by first placing white text on a black background. Then by rasterizing and applying a Gaussian blur to the text. Then by smudging the text to make a fiery appearance. And finishing it by applying a color
balance layer pushed towards magenta, red, and yellow.
August 29, 2013
Today we worked on our gif images. We did this by first making a layer with a black background, and following this by making the bottom half of the layer white. Then we press ctrl+j three times and use the magic eraser tool to erase the black on three of the layers. Then, while keeping the background layer visible, we smudge the white into the black to make it look like fire somewhat on all three layers. Then we go to window --> animate to make each three layers a frame. After this, we use the tween tool for each of the 3 frames. To save the gif, we used File --> Save for web and devices...

Today we worked on grass filtering. We filtered text to look like grass through a number of steps:
Today we learned about paths, or ways to position text, brushes, and/or other images. We used the pen tool to create these, adjusting the settings to create paths. We also made shapes using this tool that could be adjusted and altered.
September 5, 2013
Today we worked again with paths, only this time we used text to create an outline for a path. We then selected a brush and used the stroke path on the pen tool to outline the text with a path. This path was then covered with the selected brush and deleted. To create a work path, you create
September 6, 2013
To create a work path on a nontextual image, first select the image when there is no background layer, then use the select tool to creat a work path around the image. Finally use the pen tool to finish your path

To create a clipping mask, you must have layers of this order from top to bottom:
September 23, 2013
Today we worked on an alternative to clipping masks to make text conform to a seperate layer. We did this by writing a paragraph, opening a picture of ourselves, a text layer, and a colored layer. We placed the order of layers as text(1) color(2) then (3)
ctrl a select all ctrl c copy layer mask camera alt click ctrl v ctrl d

Today we worked on a combination of the andy warhol idea, brush presets and clipping masks to create an image. The order of the layers was this:
select pupilnew layer
select pupil
Feather
green brush over
invert
copy to other eye
adjust hue and saturation

Today we worked on grass filtering. We filtered text to look like grass through a number of steps:
- Create 400 by 400 pixel image with 100 res
- Make green text over a black background in arial font
- Aply an inner shadow, outer glow, inner glow, bevel and emboss, contour, texture, and gradient overlay.
- Gradient overlay should be set to a coarse, spotted background.

To create a clipping mask, you must have layers of this order from top to bottom:
- Copy of Background Layer (clipping mask applied)
- Text Layer
- Blank Layer (any color)
- Locked Background Layer

Today we worked on a combination of the andy warhol idea, brush presets and clipping masks to create an image. The order of the layers was this:

- white layer
